There are a few companies that try to live up to their reputation with every
new release of equipment with their label. This is also the case with Plextor,
who manages to impress each time with each new CD-RW unit released. Those who
have read our April edition are already familiar with this unit, which was then
presented in the section First Impression.
If for the SCSI units line Plextor used us with the existence of an internal
fan, PX-W1610TA is the first IDE model to benefit form an internal fan positioned
at the rear part of the equipment. The effect of this modification was an almost
insignificant heating up of the unit, even after performing several times the
data transfer tests..
The unit has a connecting ribbon, audio cable, screws and the box also includes
the two storage environments - 16x CD-R and 10x CD-RW. You may also find an
installation leaflet, while the complete manual is available on the utilities
CD included. PlexTools is n utility which allows you to control the most important
functions of the unit, event modifying the rotation speed in order to enable
the reading of scratched CDs..
