Admission Requirements for Foreign Applicants

 

Forms

  • Undergraduate

    • A standard application form.

    • The certificate of study, the original and a legalized copy/translation.

    • The record of marks/ranking, the original and a legalized copy/translation.

    • A legalized copy/translation of the birth certificate.

    • A medical certificate, issued by an accredited medical authority.

    • 2 photos (3/4 cm).

  • Postgraduate

    • The certificate of study must be a university degree.

Please, note:

    Copies/translations of all documents, in English/French/German, should be authenticated by the Romanian Embassy in the country of the applicant.

Prerequisites

The applicants for undergraduate must have at least a baccalaureate or equivalent diploma with a good level at math module. Although a minimum knowledge in using a computer is recommended, no prior experience in programming is required.

The applicants are required to supply a signed statement that in the country that emitted the certificate of studies they are entitled to enroll in studies equivalent to the university level. This document should also include the recognition that in case this statement is proved out of support, the student will admit being expelled without invoking the already paid taxes.

Language

All students are required to achieve a minimum level of competence in Romanian before enrolling the courses. Applicants must certify their proficiency in Romanian by passing a test organized by the University.

    Romanian Language Unit

      To help you meet this requirement, the University offers a one-year course on Romanian. During this course you can also improve your math skills at the level required in the 1st year or attend an introductory course in computer science. The graduation of this course will certificate your proficiency in Romanian and no other test is required.

Fees

    Romanian proficiency test: 320 US$

    Tuition:

    • Undergraduate and Romanian course: 320 US$ per month, during the academic year (10 months)

    • Postgraduate: 340 US$ per month, during the academic year (10 months)

Note:

    At the beginning of each academic year, fees have to be paid for at least three months in advance.

Registration deadline

The admission process must be finished before the 1st October, each year. Therefore it is highly recommended that the forms arrive to us not later than the 1st September.

      The Faculty's library and Mathematical Seminar (the biggest math library in Romania) offer a wide range of technical and research oriented books. You may also satisfy your thirst for culture in other university's libraries, specialized in all areas of science and humanities.

  • Communication

      The teaching language is Romanian, but all of our professors speak English and/or French.

  • Accommodation and Board

    • Halls of residence

    • One **-hotel (100 US$ per month)

    • Alternatively, you can rent a private flat at average monthly prices of 100-200 US$

    • One restaurant for students (very cheap)

  • Financial assistance

      The Romanian Ministry of Education offers grants to students coming from countries having bilateral education agreements with their Romanian counterpart. Contact the Romanian Embassy from your country for more information.

  • Student welfare

      All students have access to examinations and medical treatment in specialized medical units belonging to the University, in hospitals and other medical institutions.

  • Worship

      The university is a non-denominational institution, which allows freedom of worship; regular services are held in more than 40 churches extant in the city of Iasi, representing various religious faiths.
